X-ELIO, a Spain-based renewable energy developer, has commissioned the Liberty Energy Project in Dayton, Texas, integrating 72 MW of PV capacity with 60 MW of BESS. The facility is designed to supply 100% of the expected electricity demand at BASF’s Freeport site under a 12-year PPA covering 48 MW of contracted electricity. BASF, a Germany-based chemical producer, has said that the project supports its net-zero target for 2050 and aligns with its long-term renewable procurement strategy. Liberty is the first combined solar and storage project that X-ELIO has commissioned in the US, and it is part of a broader pipeline of 2.8 GW of solar and 2.1 GW of storage projects under development. Earlier this year, X-ELIO completed the sale of a 50 MW solar project in Sicily to PLT Energia, reflecting its continued activity in both development and divestment of renewable assets.
