India-based Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), part of The Tata Power Company, has introduced the ‘Scale Sustainably with Tata Power’ program in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. The initiative focuses on encouraging rooftop solar adoption across C&I markets. TPREL plans to achieve 500 MW of rooftop installations in three years, focusing primarily on energy-intensive industries such as steel, cement, aluminium, and mining. Its subsidiary Tata Power Solaroof has already deployed 252 MW of rooftop capacity in Chhattisgarh, of which 234 MW serves the C&I segment. The scheme offers financing at a 7.35% interest rate, no processing charges, and a 25-year warranty on solar modules. Chhattisgarh’s Green Energy Open Access system has improved tariff approvals and technology certification procedures. Currently, TPREL’s total operational renewable capacity in India stands at 3.6 GW, with an expansion target of 10 GW by 2028. Earlier this year, Tata Power entered into a partnership with Juniper Green Energy to implement a 70 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project in Maharashtra.
