Aspen Power, a New York-based renewable energy developer, has acquired two community solar projects in Northampton, Pennsylvania, from Syncarpha Capital with a combined capacity of 6.85 MW DC. The projects are part of an 18 MW DC contracted portfolio and are expected to generate nearly 9 million kWh annually, supplying electricity to more than 800 homes. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, construction was projected to support about 130 local jobs. Aspen Power has said that the acquisitions have strengthened its presence in Pennsylvania, where more than 100 MW are already operating or under construction. Earlier this year, Aspen Power also acquired a 4 MW project in New York from High Peaks Solar, further expanding its regional portfolio. Jorge Vargas, CEO of Aspen Power, has stated that partnerships were essential in advancing projects, while Syncarpha Capital CEO Cliff Chapman said Aspen Power’s financial strength was decisive in completing the deal. Aspen Power has developed oracquired more than 600 renewable projects across 26 states.
