Solarvest Holdings Berhad, a Malaysia clean energy solutions company, has made an announcement that its special purpose vehicle, Mukah Solar Powerplant Sdn. Bhd. ("MSPSB"), signed a PPA with Syarikat Sesco Berhad, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Energy Berhad, Sarawak's state utility. MSPSB is owned jointly by Solarvest and Press Metal Berhad, a Kuala Lumpur-headquartered aluminum producer. The deal entails the construction of a 100 MW AC solar photovoltaic power plant in Mukah, Sarawak. The installation is worth MYR 380 million (~$91.2 million) and will be largely financed via bank facilities. Solarvest has stated that its equity component will be internally funded. The plant is scheduled to enter commercial operation by 30 November 2027. After operation, it will cancel out 46,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year and create up to 2,000 jobs. Solarvest and Brookfield Asset Management had earlier in the year announced plans to roll out 1.5 GW of solar and battery storage portfolio in Malaysia.
