Canada-based Brookfield has entered its first Malaysian venture through a joint deal with Solarvest Holdings Bhd. The agreement aims to develop 1.5 GW of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Brookfield is investing via its Catalytic Transition Fund, focused on emerging market decarbonization. Malaysia was selected for its strong renewable policies and rising energy demand. Solarvest, with 2.3 GW of solar PV experience, will lead local project development. Brookfield brings capital, offtake networks, and operational scale to the partnership. The collaboration supports Malaysia’s national energy transition and regional green energy goals. It also positions both firms for broader Southeast Asia expansion. The projects target rising power needs from sectors like data centers and semiconductors.
