Essen-headquartered RWE Renewables Europe & Australia GmbH, subsidiary of the RWE Group, has partnered with PPC through their joint venture Meton Energy SA to invest in two large-scale solar projects with a combined capacity of 567 MW (518 MW AC) in Central Macedonia, Greece. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2025 and with commissioning planned for 2027. With the total investment of €418 million (~$458.25 million) includes €175 million (~$191.86 million) from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility and €169 million (~$185.27 million) in commercial debt from Greek banks. Power Purchase Agreements were also signed with PPC and RWE Supply & Trading. Meanwhile, construction and commissioning of the previously announced 940 MW (870 MW(AC)) photovoltaic portfolio in Western Macedonia is progressing well, with 210 MW already energized. Recently, RWE and Meta signed 200 MW PPA for Waterloo solar.
