RWE, a Germany-based renewable energy company, has signed a PPA with Meta for the complete 200 MW AC Waterloo Solar project in Texas. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with RWE overseeing development and operations. The Waterloo Solar project is expected to create 300 jobs, generate $26 million in local economic activity, and provide $49 million in tax revenue over 40 years. As per RWE, this agreement has increased Meta’s total offtake with RWE to 574 MW across Texas, Illinois, and Louisiana. Previously, Meta secured PPAs for the 274 MW AC County Run Solar project in Illinois and the 100 MW AC Lafitte Solar project in Louisiana. RWE has commissioned 1.6 GW of onshore wind, solar, and storage in 2024 and has 4 GW under construction.
