RES, a UK-based renewable energy company, has sold its 184 MW DC Big Sky Solar project in Acadia Valley, Alberta, to TotalEnergies, a France-headquartered energy provider. The project was commissioned in February 2025 and spans 800 acres with 340,000 bifacial panels, as per RES. It is expected to power over 42,000 homes and offset 135,000 tons of CO₂ annually, according to TotalEnergies. Over two-thirds of the electricity is sold through a long-term PPA arranged by RES, while the rest is marketed openly. The project is connected to Alberta’s grid via ATCO’s 144 kV system and supports carbon credits under Alberta’s TIER program. TotalEnergies and TMCC have also completed a ground-mounted photovoltaic project in Singapore, expanding their solar footprint in Asia.
