Greece is developing its largest solar scheme, the 550MW Oricheio solar park, on former coal mine brownfield in Ptolemaida, Western Macedonia. PPC Renewables, a unit of state-owned PPC Group, is developing the project, with EPC being carried out by Terna SA. Nextracker, a US tracker system provider, will supply its NX Horizon technology optimized to track the sun and maximize energy output. Upon operation, the portfolio will produce about 1.8% of Greece's yearly electricity. Greece aims to procure 82% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 as part of its updated National Energy and Climate Plan. To ensure delivery timelines and facilitate mass deployment, Nextracker has collaborated with European manufacturing partners. Early this year, the company signed a 305MW solar tracker supply agreement with ReNew for an India-based utility-scale solar project.
