PowerBank Corporation, a US-based renewable energy developer, has received $1.47 million in incentives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under the NY-Sun Program for its 3.79 MW Geddes Solar Project in New York. The project was constructed on a closed landfill and has been operating as a community solar facility connected to the local power grid. According to PowerBank, the system supplies electricity to around 450 homes annually and provides subscribers with monthly bill credits. The Geddes project has qualified for several NY-Sun incentives, including the Megawatt Block and Community Adder programs. The plant is also anticipated to receive an additional $245,000 through the Inclusive Community Solar Adder for serving low-to-moderate-income communities. PowerBank has stated that the facility supports New York’s 10 GW solar capacity target by 2030 and expands its distributed energy portfolio across North America. Earlier this year, PowerBank had secured a lease for the 1.76 MW Hemlock Hill Solar deployment in Upstate New York.
