PowerBank Corporation, a Canada-based developer and owner of distributed and community solar projects across Canada and the United States, has executed a lease agreement for the 1.76 MW DC Hemlock Hill solar power project in Upstate New York. According to PowerBank, the project is expected to qualify for incentives under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s NY-Sun Program. PowerBank has initiated preliminary screening and interconnection applications as part of the project’s early development phase and will proceed with permitting and financing once approvals are secured. Upon completion, Hemlock Hill will operate as a community solar facility supplying electricity to local subscribers. PowerBank said the project supports New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act target of 6 GW of solar capacity by 2025.
