PowerBank Corporation, a US-based renewable project developer, has advanced three community solar projects totaling 12.4 MW DC in Nova Scotia. The projects, located in Sydney, Brooklyn, and West Petpeswick, are expected to receive interconnection results within 30 days, with construction scheduled to begin in Spring 2026. PowerBank is developing the Nova Scotia projects with AI Renewable Flow-through Fund and Trimac Engineering. According to PowerBank, the combined installations are designed to generate 14,369 MWh annually, equivalent to supplying electricity for 1,140 homes and offsetting 10,058 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions. The projects are projected to deliver $6.95 million in lifetime community electricity savings while strengthening local energy resilience. These three installations were among only four community solar contracts awarded under Nova Scotia’s renewable energy program targeting 80% by 2030 and net-zero by 2035. Earlier this year, PowerBank secured approvals for two community solar projects in Skaneateles, New York, supporting the state’s 6 GW solar target.
