Oceans of Energy, a Netherlands-based offshore solar technology developer, has completed assembly of its floating solar farm Nymphaea Aurora at the Port of Amsterdam. The solar structure, larger than a football field, will be deployed at the Hollandse Kust Noord wind site, located 18.5km offshore in the North Sea. The 759MW wind farm, operational since December 2023, forms part of the CrossWind innovation program by Shell, headquartered in the UK, and Eneco, based in the Netherlands. Nymphaea Aurora will be the first floating solar project integrated into an offshore wind farm. Its low-water-level design reduces material use and allows scalability for offshore conditions. Assembly of all floating units was completed in just three days. Earlier this year, Oceans of Energy and CrossWind prepared the first subsea cable to connect offshore solar with the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm.
