The UK Government has published the 2025 Solar Roadmap, setting a target for national solar capacity of 45–47GW by 2030. The roadmap is included in the Clean Power Action Plan and identifies measures to overcome deployment issues and increase long-term energy security. The UK Government has assured that the plan will also facilitate job growth in the renewable energy industry. NextEnergy Capital, a UK solar infrastructure investment company, has made the contribution to the roadmap by submitting case studies and engaging in policy debate through the UK Solar Taskforce. Utility-scale solar is critical for the provision of affordable, locally sourced clean energy and broader community benefits, NextEnergy Capital asserts. NextEnergy Capital has also urged investor certainty, unambiguous ambition, and reforms of planning in order to unleash capital for big solar schemes. In recent times, NextEnergy Capital finalized the purchase of a 110MW PV portfolio in Spain, adding to its overseas solar presence.
