China-based LONGi Solar, a global solar technology company, has signed a 225.9 MW agreement in Greece, marking the largest use of Back Contact (BC) solar technology in Europe. The project used Hi-MO 9 solar modules, which produce up to 660 W of power and have an efficiency of 24.43%. These modules performed about 3% better than standard TOPCon modules in real-world conditions. The system was designed to work well in sunny areas while using less land. It is expected to generate 360 GWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 90,000 homes and reduce over 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions. LONGi said this project supports Europe’s clean energy goals and shows that BC technology can be used on a larger scale.
