LONGi, a China-based manufacturer of PV products, has signed an agreement with the Central African Power Pool (CAPP) recently, to advance rural electrification through solar microgrids. CAPP, which is representing 11 countries including Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic, has stated that nearly 80% of residents in certain areas were still without electricity access. The program aims to deploy off-grid and microgrid systems that can power villages of several hundred to several thousand inhabitants. LONGi highlighted that solar power is cost-effective and easy to install, and thus it is very ideal for remote regions with no grid infrastructure. LONGi has also introduced its Hi-MO series modules and development experience, which are designed to power homes, schools, hospitals, and productive activities. CAPP has further acknowledged that Central Africa has abundant solar resources and confirmed that LONGi was capable of delivering customized electrification solutions. Recently, LONGi has also showcased solar projects in deserts, rainforests, and refugee camps at UN Geneva while joining sustainable brand initiatives.
