JA Solar, a China-based manufacturer of PV modules, has signed a 1.2 GW module supply agreement with Larsen & Toubro. The deal has been finalized for ACWA Power’s Samarkand 1 and 2 solar projects located near Samarkand in Uzbekistan. According to JA Solar, its modules are designed to deliver high performance and durability under diverse climatic conditions. The Samarkand facilities, once commissioned, are designed to generate clean power sufficient for regional demand centers while cutting CO₂ emissions by over one million tons each year. ACWA Power, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, has said that these projects are vital to Uzbekistan’s 25% renewable electricity target by 2030. Earlier this year, JA Solar had supplied its DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules for Coca-Cola’s 2.5 MW solar project in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
