Iberdrola España, headquartered in Madrid and engaged in power generation and distribution, has commissioned a 316 MW solar plant with Norges Bank, in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. The portfolio has required an investment of €200 million and was developed across 439 hectares between Valdecarros and the Torralba mountain range. Iberdrola España has reported that the plant houses more than 460,000 PV modules which will provide power to about 155,000 houses annually. The solar power plant will prevent about 75,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly. Works at the construction stage were reported to have created nearly 800 jobs during the peak construction phase, supporting jobs and presenting economic growth opportunities to surrounding communities. Iberdrola España has also reaffirmed that the construction has incorporated biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage protection, and rural development in Salamanca. Iberdrola's cumulative installed capacity crossed 57 GW earlier this year, as subsidiary Avangrid reported 13,000 GWh generation in the first half of 2025.
