Geronimo Power, a renewable energy developer based in Minneapolis, has broken ground on its 150 MW Bee Hollow Solar project in Illinois, in the MISO market. The St. Clair County based initiative is being developed under a long-term PPA with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA), which identified it as its largest renewable investment so far. Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell has been chosen as the EPC partner for construction. The Bee Hollow Solar facility is set for completion by late 2026, providing power to about 45,600 homes. When operational, it is expected to displace approximately 219,100 metric tons of CO₂ annually. The construction phase is expected to create approximately 200 local jobs and generate significant regional employment benefits. According to Geronimo Power, the $54 million project will contribute around $17 million in new tax revenue to local governments and schools over 20 years. Earlier this year, the company has advanced progress on the 125 MW Jackson County Solar Project in Michigan, which is now nearing completion.
