Denmark-based European Energy has sold a 50% stake in the 111 MW Saldus solar and battery project in Latvia to Sampension. The project comprises of a 65 MW solar facility and a 46 MW battery unit, with construction starting in July 2025 and scheduled for completion by May 2026. Once running, it will deliver clean power to Latvia’s grid and help make the electricity system more flexible. The sale has allowed European Energy to recycle capital for new renewable developments across Europe. Saldus is among Latvia’s most advanced hybrid projects, using fixed-tilt and tracker technology for higher output. Sampension earlier acquired 50% of the 148 MW Ventspils solar park, extending its partnership with European Energy to support renewable expansion and grid reliability in the Baltic region. European Energy has also begun construction of its 31 MW PV solar farm in New South Wales.
