US-based CleanCapital, an independent power producer, has acquired a 51.2 MW operating solar portfolio from Greenbacker. The portfolio includes 64 rooftop and ground-mounted projects across 13 US states. Many assets serve municipal, university, school, hospital, and commercial customers. With this addition, CleanCapitals portfolio has surpassed 350 solar and energy storage assets. The acquisition is among the largest in the companys 10-year history. CleanCapital stated that distributed generation projects support energy demand and offer long-term value. Greenbacker said the sale aligns with its focus on larger-scale clean energy development. Ignite Renewable Capital was the advisor for Greenbacker in the transaction. CleanCapital emphasized its expertise in evaluating and managing diverse distributed assets on a scale. The company noted that such acquisitions help modernize the US grid and improve energy resilience. Wood Mackenzie ranked CleanCapital’s operating portfolio among the largest in the commercial solar segment nationwide.  Earlier this year, the company expanded its distributed portfolio with a 27MW solar acquisition from Pacifico Energy across six US states.
