Spain-based X-ELIO, a Brookfield-owned company, has signed six virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Net Zero Consortium for Buyers (NZCB). The agreements total 172 MW of solar energy in the US. The 12-year agreements will source power from X-ELIO’s Star Dairy and Rosebud solar projects in Texas, supplying about 367,000 MWh annually from 2027. Companies involved include Cisco Systems, Biogen, IDEXX Laboratories, and Waters Corporation. Cisco’s two PPAs support its 2040 net-zero target. Biogen, already using 100% renewable energy, signed two more agreements. IDEXX Laboratories secured a 20 MW deal for its 2030 goal, and Waters Corporation agreed to a 17 MW PPA. The deal was mediated by Sustainability Roundtable. Recently, Funaki solar plant supplied Amazon under a 20-year deal with X-ELIO. X-ELIO has a 5 GW pipeline of solar and storage projects in the US.
