Aspen Power,âŻa distributed energy generation platform, has acquired two community solar projects in Illinois totaling 13.9 MW (DC). The sites, located in Grafton and Rochester, were purchased from Greenwood Sustainable Infrastructure and are part of a broader portfolio spanning Illinois and New York. The projects are expected to produce over 19 million kWh each year, enough to power about 2,770 homes. They will operate as community solar gardens, where residents and businesses can subscribe and get discounted electricity. The projects were estimated to support about 265 jobs, according to SEIA. This acquisition followed Aspen Power’s recent 14.1 MW Illinois portfolio closing and its announced plan to acquire 20 more community solar projects totaling up to 19 MW, reinforcing its growing presence in the state.Earlier this year, Aspen Power commissioned ten new solar sites across Pennsylvania, further expanding its community solar portfolio and regional footprint.
