An Australian infrastructure services company, Lumea connected the 585 MW (DC) Goulburn River solar farm to the grid in New South Wales. The solar farm was built by Lightsource bp near Merriwa in the Upper Hunter. It generated 1.3TWh of renewable energy annually. The project powered 225,000 homes and reduced carbon emissions by 910,000 tons per year. Lumea completed a 500 kV transmission line cut-in, a 500 kV switching station, and a 500 kV substation to support the project. Plans included adding a battery storage system to enhance grid reliability and shift energy to nighttime peaks. Over five years, Lumea connected 55 generators and delivered 12 GW of energy to the National Electricity Market. The solar farm became operational in 2026.
