Indiana has added 188 MW of clean energy with the operational launch of London –based Lightsource bp’s Honeysuckle Solar project in St. Joseph County. The project was constructed by South Bend-based Inovateus Solar LLC, and then secured a PPA with Google for the project’s electricity output. Supporting US manufacturing, the project sourced solar panels from First Solar, trackers from Array Technologies, and steel from Nucor. According to Lightsource bp, Honeysuckle Solar will generate $30 million in local revenue over its lifespan, benefitting schools and public services. The solar farm used 85% local labor and created 280,000 man-hours of work, providing training opportunities and apprenticeships for entry-level workers.
