L2D completes 7.2 MW rooftop solar at Eastgate Shopping Centre

Liberty Two Degrees (L2D), a South African real estate investment trust (REIT), has announced the completion of South Africa’s largest rooftop solar installation at Eastgate Shopping Centre, set to be fully operational by Q3 2024. The 7.2MW project spans 28,100m² and consists of nearly 13,675 solar panels, providing 35.04% of the mall’s energy needs. The solar installation, part of L2D’s broader sustainability and Net Zero Carbon goals, will significantly reduce CO2 emissions by 10.9 tons annually. The project began with a 1MW phase in 2020 and has since expanded.
