Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) and Guzman Energy have signed a Power Purchase Agreement for a 10.98 MW solar array with 8.75 MW / 17.5 MWh battery storage, named Amalia II, in Amalia, New Mexico. Targeted for completion in Q2 2025, it follows Amalia I, operational since May 2012, and will be KCEC’s second-largest solar facility. Collaboration with Rio Costilla Cooperative Livestock Association ensures sustainable land use, wildlife preservation, and potential agrivoltaic applications. Luminace will construct and maintain Amalia II, while Guzman Energy manages energy and battery dispatch. The project supports KCEC’s clean energy goals and contributes to New Mexico’s 45% greenhouse gas reduction target by 2030.
