UK-based Lightsource bp has ambitious plans to develop over 500 MWp of solar projects in Germany within the next two to three years, focusing on projects of at least 20MW each. To accelerate this, Lightsource bp signed a development agreement with Germany-based Kajoni Energie GmbH. According to Lightsource bp, Kajoni will identify suitable sites and secure all necessary rights to bring the projects to a ready-to-build stage. These projects will be wholly owned by Lightsource bp once construction begins. Lightsource bp entered the German market in 2023, aiming to contribute 500 MWp annually to the grid. Lightsource bp has recently opened a Berlin office, also aligning with Germany’s goal to achieve 80% renewable energy by 2030.
