Manchester City has installed 2,878 solar panels on the Joie Stadium roof, making it the largest solar-powered site in Manchester and the first sustainable stadium in the Barclays Women’s Super League. This initiative is part of a broader project, in partnership with Jinko, to install over 10,500 solar panels across the City Football Academy (CFA). The project will be completed in two phases, with Phase One set to finish by the end of 2024, focusing on rooftop installations. Phase Two will include ground-mounted panels, expected to conclude by the 2024/25 season. Once completed, Joie Stadium and CFA will be entirely powered by self-generated renewable energy. Currently, both facilities operate using 100% renewable energy through a Power Purchase Agreement.
