Japan-based JERA Co., Inc. announced the sale of its 49% stake in a solar Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) project in Thailand to Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited an IPP. The project includes six solar power plants in Phetchabun, Nakhon Nayok, and Phichit provinces, operational since 2011. According to JERA, the divestment aligns with its strategy to optimize assets, reinvest in high-growth areas, and support renewable energy goals. JERA supplies about 30% of the nation’s electricity and aims for zero CO2 emissions by 2050. Its renewable energy capacity target is 20 GW by 2035, focusing on solar and offshore wind.
