International Solar Alliance (ISA) has inaugurated a 25 kW solar rooftop project at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Mauritius. As part of the ISA Cares Initiative launched in October 2020, Mauritius is working to solarize its primary healthcare facilities. The Ministry of Health and Wellness worked with the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, the Central Electricity Board, and the Development Bank of Mauritius to implement the project. The hospital, which previously consumed 141,846 units of electricity monthly at a cost of INR 1.2 million Mauritian, will now produce 3,200 units per hour with the new solar panels, reducing energy costs. In 2021, Mauritius received a $50,000 grant to install the solar panels, successfully implementing a 26.4 kW system.
