The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), an India-based government authority, has reported significant expansion in domestic solar manufacturing during calendar year 2025. Solar module manufacturing capacity under ALMM has reached around 144 GW per annum nationwide. About 81 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity has been added during calendar year 2025 alone. The Ministry has issued ALMM List-II for solar cells on 31 July 2025. Around 24 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity has been enlisted under the list. Under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, beneficiaries have installed around 11 GW of solar PV module manufacturing capacity. Under the same scheme, beneficiaries have also installed around 5 GW of solar PV cell manufacturing capacity during 2025. In the same report, India’s renewable energy sector has recorded strong 2025 growth, with solar and wind additions raising cumulative installed capacity nationwide.
