The Government of India has reported a record in the addition of renewable energy capacity in calendar year 2025. The cumulative renewable energy capacity addition in the year 2025 till November reached 44.51 GW, which is nearly a double addition of 24.72 GW in the same period of 2024. Solar energy alone has shown the highest addition of renewable energy capacities in the year 2025. The addition of solar capacity in the year 2025 till November reached 34.98 GW against the addition of 20.85 GW in the year 2024. The national solar installation has crossed the 100 GW mark in January 2025, as stated in the records. The cumulative installed solar PV capacity of India has reached 132.85 GW in November 2025, against the 94.17 GW of November 2024. The rise in solar capacity addition has helped the nation meet over 50% installed non-fossil capacity.
