Indiaโ€™s Reliance NU Suntech Private Ltd, part of Reliance Power Ltd, has signed a 25-year power deal with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The agreement included 930 MW of solar power and a 465 MW/1,860 MWh battery storage system at a fixed price of INR 3.53 (about $0.041) per kWh. The company planned to develop and commission the integrated solar and BESS project within 24 months. The project involved a capital investment of up to INR 10,000 crore (~$1.18 billion). To meet the contracted capacity, it requires over 1,700 MW of installed solar generation capacity. The first solar manufacturing line in Gujarat was commissioned earlier by Reliance Industries, aligning with these new solar and BESS plans.ย
