India headquartered Jupiter International on Wednesday announced the commissioning of its third solar cell manufacturing unit in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The expansion marks a capacity increase that doubles its production capacity. With this the company adds 1 GW of mono PERC capacity to its existing 959 MW base. Its total installed capacity reaches nearly 2 GW. The new unit is developed by Jupiter Solartech Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jupiter International Ltd. The facility is located at Village Katha in Baddi, District Solan. It is built for mono PERC technology. The expansion is expected to double the local workforce. The company is also planning to set up another 1.25 GW TOPCon solar cell line. Earlier, WBS Power transferred the Project Jupiter solar portfolio to Prime Capital, marking a separate transaction in the Indian solar market.
