Indian cleantech research and consulting firm JMK Research & Analytics Private Limited, has released its Monthly Renewable Energy Update for January 2026, outlining recent trends in India’s renewable power sector. According to the report, renewable energy generation stood at 22,069.17 million kWh during the month, an increase of 21% compared with December 2025. Wind generation recorded a strong 39% MoM rise, supported by seasonal winter wind conditions. Solar generation also increased, though at a slower pace, rising by 4.32% over the same period. During Calendar Year 2025, India has added 37.9 GW of solar capacity and 6.3 GW of wind capacity, taking total renewable energy capacity to 258 GW. Compared with CY2024, solar additions grew by 54.7%, while wind installations rose by 85.3% this year, largely due to faster execution and the commissioning of long-pending projects. In December 2025, combined solar and wind capacity additions reached 3,487 MW, reflecting a 5.3% increase over the previous month.
