JMK Research & Analytics Private Limited, a cleantech research and consulting company based in India, has issued its January 2026 issue of Monthly RE Update identifying Renewable Capacity added during December 2025. As per this update, it has been identified that 80% of total installed utility scale solar capacity has come from states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. In addition to this, it has been identified that during this period 211 MW of rooftop solar capacity was installed in Maharashtra, followed by 81 MW installed in Rajasthan and 9 MW installed in Gujarat. In terms of off-grid solar capacity, a total capacity of 42 MW was installed during this period, where Maharashtra had 35 MW capacity addition. In addition to this, during December 2025, 183 MW capacity addition was done in Gujarat for wind capacity addition. There were capacity additions of 110 MW and 61 MW installed in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, respectively. In its December 2025 report, PV installations were led by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

The January 2026 RE Update by JMK Research states that Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat together represented 80% of India’s utility-scale PV capacity in December 2025.
