India reached a solar power generation capacity of 100 GW on January 31, 2025. The goal was revised in 2015 from 20 GW to 100 GW as part of a broader plan to achieve 175 GW of renewable energy capacity.Three years later than planned due to supply chain delays. Between 2014 and 2025, India added 100 GW of solar power, compared to 2.82 GW from 2004 to 2014. This milestone is part of India’s target of 500 GW renewable energy by 2030. India’s solar capacity milestone of 100 GW, despite supply chain delays, aligns with ongoing expansions like TP Solar’s 4.3 GW plant in Tirunelveli, reinforcing the country’s renewable energy growth.
