Taiwan-based HEXA Renewables, backed by US-based I Squared Capital, has commissioned the world’s largest offshore floating solar power plant in Changhua County, Taiwan. Spanning 347 hectares across four plots, this project boasts an aggregated capacity of 373 MW (AC). Initially developed by Chenya Energy in 2020, HEXA progressed with the second stage, adding 192 MW (AC) in collaboration with the Taiwanese government. As per HEXA, this project offsets 136,000 tons CO2 emissions annually and powers 74,000 households. The project supports Taiwan’s decarbonization targets of 20 GW renewable capacity by 2025 and net-zero emissions by 2050, exemplifying effective public-private partnerships and boosting Taiwan’s standing in floating solar technology.
