Greif inks 12-year VPPA with Enel Green Power

A global packaging and containers manufacturer, Greif, Inc. has entered into a 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Enel Green Power España. The agreement supports two solar projects located in Spain’s Soria Province, which are expected to generate approximately 100 GWh of renewable energy each year. This renewable energy output will cover around 65% of Greif’s Scope 2 emissions in Europe and 3% of its global Scope 2 emissions. The VPPA aligns with Greif’s long-term environmental strategy to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 28% by 2030.

Note: Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources controlled by the company, while Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the use of purchased energy like electricity.
