Generac Power Systems has been awarded up to $200 million by the US Department of Energy under the Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund (PR-ERF). This initiative is part of Programa Acceso Solar, planned to begin in August 2024 and focuses on installing residential solar and storage systems for disadvantaged households in Puerto Rico. Generac will collaborate with local affiliates, including PathStone and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), to ensure effective program implementation. The company, known for its backup power solutions in Puerto Rico, aims to provide clean energy to low-income areas with frequent power outages and energy-dependent disabilities. The program supports Puerto Rico’s goal of 100% renewable energy by 2050. Key partners like FR-BLDM, Juapi Energy, and Palmetto will lead installations and support services, while also creating clean energy jobs and workforce training opportunities.
