California-based GAF Energy’s Timberline Solar, the world’s first nailable solar shingle, has been approved for installation by the Sterling Ranch master-planned community. This approval confirms the shingle’s compliance with high standards for safety, energy production, and aesthetics. It also supports Sterling Ranch’s goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030. Timberline Solar, produced in California and Texas, integrates seamlessly with traditional shingles and maintains a sleek design with a depth of less than a quarter inch. As per GAF, the shingle is built to endure harsh conditions like Colorado’s heavy snow and meets rigorous third-party safety standards. With a new 450,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Texas, GAF Energy is now the largest producer of solar roofing globally.
