European Energy Australia inks the country’s largest solar farm deal 

European Energy Australia has secured a landmark PPA with Rio Tinto for Australia’s largest solar farm, the 1.3 GW Upper Calliope Solar Farm in Queensland. Rio Tinto commits to a 25-year purchase of all generated electricity, marking Australia’s largest solar corporate PPA. The project, developed in partnership, will span 2,700 hectares, commence construction in 2025-26, and contribute 5% of Queensland’s electricity. The economic impact includes support for 1,000 existing jobs, creation of up to 1,000 new jobs during construction, and 100 jobs during operation.
