Ethical Power has secured planning consent for a 65 MW PV project, Buckleys Road Solar Farm, in Selwyn District, near Christchurch, New Zealand. The project spans 104 hectares of solar arrays on a 111-hectare site, generating 100 GWh annually. It includes 140,000 single-axis tracking modules, 13 inverters, and a battery energy storage system (BESS). The site, adjacent to the Brookside 66 kV substation, will also support sheep grazing. Ethical Power collaborated with Te Taumutu Runanga to preserve cultural values, incorporating a Maori Wähi Taonga Site in the design. This project aligns with recent agreements by Aquila Clean Energy and Genesis Energy to boost New Zealand’s solar capacity.
