Brazil-based ENGIE has launched commercial operations at the Assú Sol Photovoltaic Complex in Assu, Rio Grande do Norte. The first plant went live on January 8, following approval from Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), the activation of 5.4% of the project’s total capacity. This massive solar complex, initiated in Q3 2023, will feature 16 photovoltaic parks with a total installed capacity of 752 MW (AC) (895 MW) and an average commercial capacity of 228.7 MW. All the energy generated will flow into the Free Market. With a significant investment of R$3.3 billion (~$536.23 million), the project is on track to reach full operations by the end of 2025. Assú Sol uses cutting-edge solar technology to maximize efficiency and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening Rio Grande do Norte’s clean energy footprint.
