Enel North America, a clean energy developer, has partnered with Texas Solar Sheep Co., to deploy over 6,000 sheep for vegetation management across eight solar plants in Texas. This agreement, the largest of its kind in the US, will involve sheep grazing on more than 10,100 acres of solar land, integrating solar power generation with agricultural activities. Citing a recent survey, American Solar Grazing Association estimates that 100,000 acres of solar sites are being grazed in the US. The initiative aims to maintain the performance of solar facilities while supporting ecosystem services, improving soil health, and providing revenue for local sheep herders. Texas Solar Sheep specializes in utility-scale solar farm vegetation management.
