Uniper, a Düsseldorf-based European energy company, has announced its first Scottish solar scheme, Berryhill Solar Farm. The 68.8 MW solar Farm will be located just north of Dundee and has been jointly developed with Solar2. The installation is designed to utilize around 152,000 PV panels and is anticipated to provide renewable power to more than 12,500 UK households per year. Uniper will start the construction process as a sole owner, slated for early 2026, and power generation is due to commence later that same year. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is expected to install a 9 km medium voltage cable to link the Solar Farm with the Charleston substation on the Kingsway in Dundee. Planning permission for the plant was granted by Angus Council in 2022 and was modified in 2024 following updated submissions from Solar2. Recently, Uniper has signed a solar power agreement serving universities in Baden-Württemberg.
