Sonnedix, a global renewable energy company, has started operations of the 36.8 MW Lousada photovoltaic plant in Paredes, Porto district, in mid-December 2025. The project increased Sonnedix’s operational solar capacity in Portugal to more than 300 MW, alongside Douro, Bustelo and Lordelo plants commissioned earlier in 2025. Lousada was developed with local authority engagement and included a site integration plan supported by a €1 million investment. The plant was designed to supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 18,300 households and reduce around 19,600 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. Sonnedix also stated that its Portugal portfolio was progressing toward hybrid solar, wind, and battery storage projects, with first BESS operations planned for 2026. Earlier to this, Sonnedix Spain also signed a Guarantees of Origin agreement with VW Kraftwerk, broadening its commercial activity in the Iberian power market.
