Norway-based renewable-energy provider Scatec has recently signed a PPA with Egypt-based Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). The agreement covers one integrated solar-plus-storage hybrid project and two standalone storage projects totalling 1.95 GW PV and 3.9 GWh BESS. According to Scatec, the development will be Africa’s largest combined solar and battery installation and the company’s largest investment. This hybrid plant will generate approximately 6,000 GWh of renewable energy annually across its operations in Egypt. The 25-year USD-denominated pay-as-produced PPA of this deal links payments directly to electricity generated by the hybrid facility. Scatec will handle EPC, asset management, and O&M for the projects. Financial close is expected during the second half of 2026 with capital expenditure details to follow then. Scatec currently maintains 6.2 GW capacity in operation and construction across five continents. Recently, Scatec has commenced commercial operations of the second 60 MW Mmadinare PV phase in Botswana.
