UK based RWE has reported the energisation of four grid-connected solar and battery storage projects in the UK. The development marked the company’s first operational, grid-connected solar assets in the country. The Langford, Cotmoor, Doverdale and Laynes Wood projects together delivered 185 MW of solar capacity and 35 MW of battery storage, supplying electricity for over 82,000 households annually. The projects included co-located solar and storage at Langford and standalone solar at the other sites, all now connected to the grid. RWE stated that the projects formed part of its wider UK solar pipeline, with nine additional solar and co-located battery projects under construction. The company allocated GBP 380,000 in community benefit funding and implemented measures related to local energy initiatives, biodiversity management and educational engagement at selected sites. Earlier to this, RWE had commissioned 86.5 MW of solar farms in Germany, adding to its growing European solar portfolio.
